Loop Arranger / Creative tools
From a loop
to an arrangement.
Loop Arranger is a Max for Live device that develops an existing loop into an editable tech-house arrangement. It uses your clips and gives you a structure to keep working on.
Illustrative arrangement timeline, not a screenshot of the device.
Keep the creative decisions moving.
I make music in Ableton. A useful loop is a good starting point, but developing it into a full structure is a separate task. I built Loop Arranger to make that next step easier to explore.
Choose a preset, confirm each track’s role, and adjust the structure before building. The result stays editable in Live so you can finish the transitions, automation, and details yourself.
Four ways to develop an idea.
Hook & Drop
Tease the hook, deliver its payoff, then alternate hook appearances with instrumental space.
Rolling Groove
Use longer rhythmic passages with supporting-layer changes and short breathers.
Slow Reveal
Introduce ingredients gradually and save the fullest combination for a later return.
Vocal Journey
Keep complete vocal phrases together and alternate vocal passages with instrumental sections.
Try it in your own Set.
The downloadable 0.1.1 release scans a bar-aligned source phrase, previews a structure, and places editable clip copies after the existing timeline content. Your source clips stay in place.
- Unzip and add the device to an empty MIDI track.
- Set the Arrangement loop brace around the complete source phrase.
- Stop playback, scan, and confirm each track’s musical role.
- Choose the preset, adjust the preview, and build.
Requires Live 12.4 or later with Max for Live and Max 9, a 4/4 Set, static tempo, and MIDI or warped audio clips. The core workflow was tested on macOS; Windows was not tested.
This is an early release. Back up your Live Set and listen through the result. Track, device, and master automation are not rearranged.
